On “Sarah Palin shouldn’t be pretending Glenn Beck is normal

You test everybody's patience, Kate, including Jeff and Darleen who still let you post there, as I see you have a hatred for those who
flee from any despotism, like those Vietnamese in Orange County
and Houston, I'm sure you feel the same about my paisans in little
Havana, and kindred spirits from Maracaibo in Doral, who don't get
this 'wonderful Democratic revolution' thingy. We're all bitter clingers
that way.

Now CK, by they, since I cut my teeth on the American Spectator, that's why I found Hilyer's offering particularly offensive, you would
know that those who are recipients of the "Strange New Respect Award" is who I meant. Charmin Charlie is already way in the lead

"

Apparently CK, we are not supposed to describe what they are trying to do, I like her idiom of speaking better, no surprise, because she is
the more optimist of the two. despite everything that has happened in two years, is it somewhat progressive, small p, I suppose, but it is more constitutional than what is currently being offered.

For the life of me, I don't understand the strange one, not really, she must be a parody of the post modernist genre, Ot, Avatar kind of grows on you, when you only have to pay a buck to see it.

"

If they are receiving that kind of respect, McCain Graham, Chafee,
as they saying goes, you're doing it wrong. An example is the "Publication that Luce Built" now the sanctuary of the likes of Klein,
Halperin, et al, who make the renaissance courtier's seem like bitter
skeptics

"

AS opposed to the miniscule audiences of MSNBC, CNN and Headline News, each one chasing a test pattern, then again it could be burn
out after such a momentous fiasco as this health care leviathan

"

Ditto, Zoltan, I mean where else are you going to get a look at the likes of Samuel Adams, the distinction between who we have pretended
to exalt, like Shephard Fairey's Obama posters, and the legacy of our
founders, like Adams, like Washington, Jefferson, Beck is really in the tradition of Thomas Paine and Ben Franklin, a pamphleteer and a polemicist, as opposed to whom exactly. He's largely self educated, like another subject of contempt of the establishment. the voice of
Cape Girardeau, Missouri

"

My point, Ck is why jump to the conclusion that she's insincere. The other conclusion actually fits her record, as I think I've pointed out.
This isn't particularly new either, she called attention to the Breitbart
investigation of Lloyd and Jones, even before she signed with Fox.

"

I am a Hispanic Catholic, nishi, but I guess you can peg me like a bitter clinger, for that. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.
As with most of Jeff Goldstein's threads you entirely miss the point.

"

No, I think she is quite sincere, remember she was the official on the oil commission who suspected that her boss was corrupt so she asked
the attorney general for permission, and resigned when she couldn't share the results of her investigation. The city council person who challenged the mentor that brought her on the council, Carney.

"

Yes, because we're talking about policy, like taking over industries, shutting down others, dictating how much can make, how much you can contribute to charity and to which charities are eligible. After all we can't keep "our air conditioners at 72 in the summer, or have the
biggest car or the biggest house" or words to that effect

"

So why use Gulag, talk about inflammatory language, unless the British
the French also do so. Supermax, who accidently gets sent there, with
Yousef and the Unabomber.

"

Beck flies a little off the tangent, I'll admit, but he has been more right than wrong about this adminstration. It's a little like James Angleton's 'Wilderness of Mirrors" dealing with insane, counterproductive policies
which are mightily are under be reframed as logical. WE can frame it
as inexperience and/or stupidity, but there is always a potential payoff
will all of these projects

"

Could you be a little more incomprehensible, thanks,

"

AS opposed to who, CK the impartial arbiters of Sawyer, Williams, and Couric, or the ratings powerhouses at MSNBC and CNN, sarc, The ones who heard Biden, say he recalled FDR addressing the nation on TV in 1929, and said, how insightful that was. Who paint tea partiers as
terrorists, but terrorists, specially the left wing variety as misunderstood idealists

On “CHART OF THE DAY – Heavens to Murgatroyd…

The problem is unemployment is going up, specially with the turmoil that we see in Europe, and none of Obama's plans listed above will
solve them, but they have to do less clueless things like they did
last night

"

The Colonel Kurtz solution, got it now,

On “Adventures in Epistemic Opening – Manzi vs Levin and the Fate of Everything

Since this topic has reached the Times, and now has gone beyond absurd, I think the House and Senate Republicans need a little epistemic closure, if just to realize why they should oppose such a bad bill.

I really like Casino Royale, even though they run it a little too often lately, the obstacle course on the construction yard in Motaba, the
chase at the airport, the card game itself loses steam, and the torture scene was innovative enough that a recent Gitmo detainee took it for his own narrative

"

All right I'll give Olga and throw in Gemma Arterton, before she was covered in oil, but it's just grand guignol enough I'm sorry

"

It was too pedestrian a scheme, compared to Zorin's psychotic earth quake plot, Stromberg's sub launching super tanker, Drax's space station, I know Die another DAy, went too far, but there has to be
a happy medium.

Back on thread, epistemic closure, has hit the Times, with all the usual
suspects, and of course, none of the context, well played Jim

On “CHART OF THE DAY – Heavens to Murgatroyd…

You need to put that on the wall, CK and add a dose of Dramamine. The way I read it the insurgents are closer to the population than either the Afghan forces or the coalition, that's not good

On “Adventures in Epistemic Opening – Manzi vs Levin and the Fate of Everything

I agree with you on Casino Royale, but an hour in what is supposed to be Haiti, a face off in the Atacama desert, plus the plot right out of
the Guardian, too much Bourne influence, Quantum is supposed to be
the successor to SPECTRE, but it just doesn't pass muster as the big rival

"

Ck, Weitzman?? Mann, Oppenheimer, Schneider, et al, have been driving the process for 20 years, the possibility of AGW is an important issue, well lets debate it, lets see how they gather and even interpret their data, let's not take it as a fait accompli.

On “CHART OF THE DAY – Heavens to Murgatroyd…

You call that a chart, this is a chart;

On “Adventures in Epistemic Opening – Manzi vs Levin and the Fate of Everything

There are some statements, that knowledge and or experience, prove that are beyond debate. I'm not going to ever accept that Fidel had the right idea, McCarthy is not going to accept that Militant Islam is a good move, and in light of the patent fraud of the IPCC (re the most recent browse) AGW is a sham. Now Mr. Sanchez wants to accept that as a premise, just as surely as he'll support the 'war on drugs' sure when pigs fly. Why accept a lie as truth, maybe we go overboard in challenging a premise that is so ludicrous. First, the evidence isn't there, and the measures to solve this non existent crisis. But the first is a priori

"

They have to stop with the Byzantine scripts like "Quantum of Solace"
and some of the settings, Haiti, for the better part of an hour, the
Atacama desert, "Royale" had good pacing, but this one lagged for
long stretches. Don't laugh, but that might very well be the next villain

"

That does seem to be the point of the game, Joe, that our esteemed host doesn't get. When they are running a shell game, like with the
health care leviathan, cap n trade, this new 'financial reform' boondoggle and we're impolite in pointing out that's its a con. The
beautiful plumage of the Norwegian Blue, doesn't obscure the fact
that it's bleeding demised, ceased to be, But lo and behold to the ones who point out that the emperor does not indeed have a new set of clothes
